Earlier in the year Funk Soul Family travelled up to Lancashire’s Fisherman’s Retreat to celebrate Jennie and Steve’s wedding reception! The venue is unique in providing first class freshly prepared locally sourced food, a big thumbs up from us, we love all things green!
The band had the pleasure of entertaining evening guests in the Valley Suite which features a wall of glass allowing stunning panoramic views of surrounding countryside. The band were inspired to capture their own panoramic views with arguable success.
Jennie and Steve took to our Facebook page to leave us a fab review of the party:
“Jennie and I would like to say a huge thank you to the whole band for their fantastic performance at our wedding at the Fishermans Retreat. Pete was a pleasure to work with extremely accommodating from start to finish, everything we asked or requested Pete replied, “Yeah, sure we can do that” or “Whatever you guys want we will work around”.

Situated in Bowness on the Eastern shore of Lake Windermere and directly overlooking the “Belle Isle”, the Laura Ashley Belsfield Hotel was the perfect place for Jamie and Emma’s wedding. Set in six acres of landscaped gardens the boutique hotel offers unparalleled views over Lake Windermere in the foreground, and on the farther shore the often snow-capped Langdale Pikes and the Fairfield Horseshoe can be seen. Funk Soul Family had the pleasure of providing the evenings entertainment for Jamie and Emma’s guests, and this was our most ambitious first dance to date.
Jamie had dreamt of a cinematic start to his first dance with his new bride Emma. Inspired by the anime music videos from the first Daft Punk album ‘Discovery’, Jamie commissioned his brother (who happens to be an animation artist) to create a video for the introduction to the first dance. Jamie wanted Funk Soul Family to play ‘Aerodynamic’ by Daft Punk in sync with the video being projected onto a large screen for the guests. We love a good challenge and the plan went off without a hitch! After the video Jamie made his grand entrance to the wedding reception and swept his bride off her feet during their first dance to more Daft Punk. Check out the awesome review we got from Jamie…
“I’d just like to say thanks so much to Pete and all of Funk Soul Family for helping to make mine and Emma’s wedding so special. When I was was trying to find a band that would help me with my very specific requirements I never expected to get such a enthusiastic and passionate response. It was plain to see Funk Soul Family are a band that love what they do and couldn’t have been more helpful. As a result the vision I had for a long time came together perfectly!”

Sandhole Oak Barn situated in the rolling Cheshire countryside offered a magnificent setting for Rachel and Norman’s wedding day. Funk Soul Family kicked off the evening by playing a request of John Legend’s ‘All Of Me’ for the first dance and then had the dance floor packed all night. Check out the amazing review we got from the happy couple below….
“Funk Soul Family really added an extra sparkle to an already brilliant day – we’re so pleased we found them. We knew how important music would be for creating the atmosphere we wanted and making it a memorable day for our guests, so we picked every element really carefully – from the church arrival to the pre-dinner drinks, through to the evening do. My biggest fear for the night was an empty dance floor, but that just wasn’t going to be a problem with Pete and the band in charge.
We danced all night and the guests loved the funky tunes and threw themselves into the crowd participation. So many people congratulated us afterwards on what a cool and talented band we had. The stand out highlight for us, though, was Tolu playing All of Me by John Legend live for our first dance and singing it so soulfully. It made it such a special moment for us.
Aside from the excellent entertainment they provided, they were a fantastic support in the run up to the day. Pete was so attentive, helping us plan for the day as well as the evening, with lots of suggestions and ideas and so much flexibility to ensure that we had the party that we wanted. I couldn’t recommend Funk Soul Family highly enough and would use them again in a heartbeat. Thanks for being part of our day, guys!”

Knowsley Hall is a stunning Georgian country manor house just outside of Liverpool that was the perfect venue for Parina and Martin’s summer wedding. Following the ceremony and wedding breakfast, Funk Soul Family had the pleasure of playing the couple’s first dance ‘We have all the time in the world’ by Louis Armstrong. After which we kick started the party with our mix of classic tunes and current hits which had the dance floor packed. The guests were so up for a party that when we suggested a conga line the entire wedding party started a parade around the regal manor house leaving us to play on our own for 5 minutes! Check out the video on YouTube here.
Thankfully they returned for more dancing and we ended the night with an epic dance battle! Tobiah Tayo got some awesome photos from the day which we have featured above, check out their site here for more information. Check out the amazing review we got from Martin and Parina…
”Funk Soul Family were absolutely fantastic! We hired them for our evening entertainment on our wedding day and they didn’t disappoint. They had the dance floor filled from start to finish and kept the party atmosphere going all night. Since then we have had countless guests asking were we found them. They went above and beyond and learnt a faultless version of our first dance and loads of other songs that we really enjoyed. Such a talented group!
We couldn’t thank them more for creating such an amazing night for us and our guests, they left us with such wonderful memories. I would highly recommend this band. They made our wedding day! Thanks Pete, Tolu and the rest of the band we really enjoyed ourselves.”

The 1892 suite at Fairfield Golf Club was a superb venue for Chris and Karin’s wedding and Funk Soul Family had the pleasure of providing the evenings entertainment. We performed a request of the fantastic ‘Thinking Out Loud’ by Ed Sheeran for the first dance and then had the guests getting down to our hand picked repertoire of classic tunes.Check out the awesome review we got from Chris and Karin…
“It was great having Funk Soul Family playing at our wedding. Right from when we first got in contact with them they where so friendly inviting us along to one of there gigs at Hogans of Hale to see them live. After hearing them we knew we wanted them for our wedding. We met up with Pete for a coffee to chat about what we wanted, and he was great at listening to our ideas and also suggesting some great ideas too.
On the day they where great, arrived exactly when they said they would and set up quietly so not to distract from what else was going on. They did an amazing cover of ‘Thinking Out Loud’ for our first dance. Throughout the rest of the evening the music was amazing, it made it so easy and fun for everyone to get up and dance and have a good time.
I would definitely recommend Funk Soul Family to anyone who needs a wedding band, great music and a lovely group of people. One of our guests was so impressed by the end of the evening that she has now booked them for her wedding!”

Set in the heart of Cheshire, with its elegant interior, photogenic gardens and imposing approach, Capesthorne Hall was the stunning location for Dave and Jo’s wedding. Funk Soul Family had the pleasure of celebrating with the friends and family of this lovely couple and we worked closely with Dave and Jo to tailor our song choices to their individual music tastes.
We played a version of Paolo Nutini’s ‘Loving You’ for their first dance, which was a great reflection of the couples soulful and indie music tastes. Our playlist for the evening incorporated plenty of indie anthems to keep Dave happy and we played all the classic pop hits for Jo and her bridesmaids to have a good boogie to! Check out this message we got from Dave after their big day…
“Just thought I’d say a big thanks to you and the rest of the band for playing at our wedding last week. It was great, I definitely didn’t get to enjoy the band as much as I hoped, kept getting sidetracked by people!!! I remember specifically when you were playing Wonderwall and I was like awesome but I couldn’t get away from my aunt!!! So annoying!!! I got a lot of great comments about the band and how great you guys were. I’d certainly recommend you, I’ve had a good experience even from the first enquiry. It’s really good that you can speak to someone directly from the band rather than one of those faceless agencies!”

On the 7th is an exclusive private members club located in the heart of MediaCityUK and Funk Soul Family had the pleasure of celebrating there at Lisa and Tom’s wedding. Designed in the Eclectic iconic style, On The 7th overlooks the lit-up sky of MediaCityUK, which provided the perfect backdrop for guests dancing the night away. After the cutting of the cake, Funk Soul Family performed a bespoke version of ‘Greatest Day’ by Take That for Lisa and Tom’s first dance and then launched into our set of hand picked dance floor fillers! We had a brilliant time and check out the lovely review we got from the happy couple…
“We first saw Funk Soul Family play at one of our Friends’ weddings. Although my wife and I were not engaged at the time we immediately turned to one another and agreed if we ever got married then we wanted ‘that band’ to play at our wedding. Fast forward a year or so and we were planning our own wedding. ‘That band’ turned out to be Pete and the Funk Soul Family and so we booked them and they truly didn’t disappoint!
The whole process of working with Pete was a pleasure, he is genuine, friendly and easy to deal with. We were given options over the musicians and instruments we wanted including on the night. This was great as it gave us options to fine tune the sound and vibe we were looking to achieve as well as some flexibility on cost. Pete dealt with our venue over the boring liability insurance and technical requirements so we didn’t need to worry about any of that. The band have a great core set list covering all the funky classics as well as some amazing funk inspired covers that you might not expect! They also learned a couple of songs especially for us including our first dance song which was an amazing performance and now a very special memory!
The response of our guests was exactly what we wanted. It was all variations on a theme about how good a party we threw and Pete and the Funk Soul Family were an integral part of that. We would not hesitate to recommend Pete and the Funk Soul Family as a friendly, professional and extremely talented band guaranteed to get your guests dancing!”

Styal Lodge is a beautiful bespoke wedding venue set in the peaceful national trust village of Styal, in the picturesque Cheshire countryside. Funk Soul Family had the pleasure of bringing the party helping to create the perfect wedding day for Anna and Dale. We loved performing two requests from Anna, the first dance and father of the bride dance. Check out the amazing review from the happy couple…
“We knew we were onto a good thing with Funk Soul Family when Pete suggested we come and watch the band at Hogans of Hale. They were incredible. We spent most of that evening dancing and the rest recording parts of their set for inclusion on our wedding playlist!
Come the wedding day, they blew away our already high expectations. Pete and the band had learned not only our first dance, but also few other obscurities which really helped made the day feel special. The band were brilliant throughout the evening and the dance floor was full for every moment they were playing. Their personalities and enthusiasm shone the night through and our wedding guests loved them!
We’ve been to a few weddings now since ours and at each one we never tired of hearing how our wedding band was so much better than whoever the current happy couple had the misfortune of booking! Funk Soul Family lit up Styal Lodge for us and we have no reservations in recommending they’d do the same for anyone else, anywhere.
We often find ourselves wishing we still lived close to Pete and the gang so we could gatecrash their wedding gigs and watch them in perform in bars across Manchester! We miss you FSF!”

Manchester’s finest party bands – Strings Attached and Funk Soul Family – had the pleasure of entertaining guests at the annual charity ball for East Cheshire Hospice at the Mere Golf Resort & Spa. Strings Attached kicked off the evening by playing a mixture of contemporary and classic tunes all with our signature twist, creating a beautiful ambience as guests arrived. After a variety of games and an amazing raffle which included one lucky guest winning a brand new car, Funk Soul Family took to the stage to end the night with a bang! We had a fantastic time and loved helping everyone celebrate as an incredible £70,000 was raised for East Cheshire Hospice! Check out the lovely review we received from the organisers below…

Eaves Hall provided a stunning location for Helena and Reece’s wedding and Funk Soul Family brought the party!! Check out this amazing review from the bride and groom!
“Well what can we say apart from thank you, thank you, thank you!
Reece and I stumbled across Funk Soul Family at a wedding fayre, which was a bit dull to say the least, we were just about to leave feeling disappointed when Funk Soul Family began! After that we were dancing along in our seats and it was the best wedding fayre we went to! I knew then they were the band for us!
Pete who helped us find the best package to suit our needs and those of our venue was very helpful and professional throughout. Any questions would be answered via email promptly and in detail, playlists were discussed and adapted, the band were so amenable to our tastes as well as in keeping with the venues atmosphere, and we had no doubt that what they would do on our wedding day would be perfect.
On the day however wow did they beat our expectations!! They had learnt and played our first dance song which was amazing, then they had our guests (and us) up dancing all night long- what could be better. Everyone commented afterwards about how much they enjoyed the music.
Truly Funk Soul Family helped to ensure our day was perfect for us, I wouldn’t think twice about booking them again and I will certainly be recommending to any friends or family looking for a cool, upbeat, friendly band for an event. Thanks again guys, you were great!”
