We would highly recommend Strings Attached.
It’s hard to remember now, but there was a time a few months ago when the weather was warm, the flowers were blooming and the wedding season was at its peak. The end of June is always a lovely time for a wedding, but this day at Askham Hall was absolutely spectacular!
This was a perfect example of the kind of wedding where Strings Attached can really shine. A hybrid of a string quartet and an acoustic band, they are equally at home singing pop covers as they are playing instrumental versions of the classics. That’s why Heidy and David asked for violin and cello during the outdoor ceremony, with the full band coming together afterwards for the drinks reception. It was the perfect balance of refined elegance and casual fun.
For the entrance of the bride, Ben and Ellie played a beautiful instrumental cover of Moon River, which went down a treat. Before the ceremony and during the signing of the register, they performed various instrumental tunes as background music. Later, with Alice on keys and lead vocals and Pete on guitar, we played a set of upbeat acoustic covers while guests sipped Pimm’s and fresh coconut water! The entire day was a gorgeous blend of British and Indonesian culture.
We hadn’t been to this Penrith wedding venue before, but Askham Hall absolutely blew us away. It’s a beautiful old building that’s incredibly grand but also feels intimate and homely. The grounds are stunning, and made the ideal place for a ceremony and drinks reception on a sunny day like this, especially with live acoustic music providing the soundtrack.
Here’s a review that the happy couple sent us after the wedding. Congratulations Heidy and David, we’re so glad we could make your day extra special!
We just want to say a massive thank you to Pete and the team from String Attached for performing beautifully at our wedding reception. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the music and it created a lovely atmosphere. We really loved the instrumental song that they played for the ceremony. Pete has been very responsive and helpful throughout the booking process. We would highly recommend Strings Attached.
Not only are they musically so talented, they are lovely people.
It was our first time playing a wedding at Donington Park Farmhouse Hotel, an utterly unique 17th-century venue, and we had an amazing time! The live music was provided by Plain Folk, our laid-back acoustic duo, who suited the rustic atmosphere perfectly. This place is steeped in history, part of an estate once owned by Queen Elizabeth I, so it felt like Becki and Jodi were adding to the many thousands of stories that had been told inside those walls.
When it comes to civil ceremonies, there are rules around what song lyrics are allowed, to make sure that the ceremony can’t be considered religious in any way. So when Plain Folk performed at this beautiful Derbyshire wedding, we had to tweak the lyrics of From Here to the Moon and Back by Dolly Parton, which the couple requested for the signing of the register. Instead of “Thank heaven for you and to God, tip my hat” we sang “Thank goodness for you and I tip my hat”! We’re always more than happy to accommodate requests like this, so please don’t hesitate to drop us a line if you’re worried that your special song includes ‘religious’ lyrics.
Other requests included stripped-back versions of I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) and Can’t Stop the Feeling, sung by Rowan with Pete adding acoustic guitar and backing vocals. After the ceremony, we played more acoustic covers as the guests mingled over a drink or three!
Jodi and Becki had this to say about the live music we provided:
Good Indeed Music and in particular, Plain Folk (featuring Pete and Rowan) are AMAZING! They played at our wedding last week and we couldn't have been happier. Not only are they musically so talented, they are lovely people. We would highly recommend them if you're looking for a quality live music act.
We can’t get enough of these fabulous photos by Toast Photography. Check out their blog to see more photos and read about the day from their point of view. Congratulations again to the happy couple, and thanks for having us at your beautiful rustic wedding!
Congratulations, Phil and Sophie! We absolutely loved providing two of our live wedding bands for this magnificent day at Sandhole Oak Barn, one of our favourite Cheshire wedding venues.
Strings Attached, our modern twist on the string quartet, performed during the ceremony and drinks reception. We played a few special requests, including noughties classics like I’m Yours by Jason Mraz and Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. Strings Attached’s acoustic covers, mixing vocals, guitar, keys and strings, were a perfect match for the rustic atmosphere of Sandhole Oak Barn.
In the evening, Funk Soul Family took over as Phil, Sophie and their guests let their hair down and danced the night away. Our five-piece funk and soul band played a range of modern hits and timeless classics, including a cover of Amazed by Lonestar/Boys II Men, as requested by the happy couple.
We’ve played at this stunning venue in Congleton, Cheshire several times and we can’t get enough of it. Check it out if you like lakeside views, exposed wooden beams, and all-round vintage vibes. We would totally recommend the fantastic TopTable Caterers as well, who are also regulars at Sandhole Oak Barn.
The rain threatened to put a damper on the proceedings in the afternoon, but this wedding couple and their guests didn’t let it spoil their fun one bit! Phil and Sophie even posed for a gorgeous umbrella shot, beautifully captured by wedding photographer Lucy Smith from Smith Imaging.
